Join the USHJA Foundation in the Global #GivingTuesday Movement and Make a Difference
Donations to hunter/jumper historical preservation matched by Sindy Paul

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lexington, KY------November 23, 2015------The USHJA Foundation has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving, and invites members and equine enthusiasts to show their support for the Foundation's charitable work on December 1, 2015.

On #GivingTuesday, interested donors can support the work of the Foundation through an all-inclusive donation or a donation to a specific area of the Foundation's work at www.ushjafoundation.org/donate. The Foundation focuses on four areas of charitable work: supporting the basic needs of the USHJA members who do not have the financial means to do so themselves following an accident, catastrophe or illness; inspiring USHJA members facing adversity through exceptional experiences; empowering USHJA members to further their education; and preserving and protecting the history and tradition of the hunter/jumper sport.

"Hunter/jumper equestrians make up a generous and caring community," said Lynn Jayne, president of the USHJA Foundation. "This Giving Tuesday, we're encouraging everyone involved with the sport to give an amount that makes sense for them to support the work we do to embrace, support and protect our community."

Since the Foundation began, the Horseman's Assistance Fund has helped nearly 20 individuals in crisis after an illness, injury or catastrophe and provided nearly $200,000 in aid. At the same time, the organization has offered six equestrians facing significant adversity inspiring opportunities in the sport, helped one young man get to Pony Finals and supported approximately 10 grants and scholarships each year for young equestrians through its collaboration with USHJA zones. The Foundation also supports preservation of the sport's history, providing funding to the USHJA Wheeler Museum.

#GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and along with widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday help to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to give back to the charities and causes they support. All donations up to $250 made during #GivingTuesday to the historical preservation fund will be matched by the generosity of Sindy Paul.

"One thing I've learned about this sport is that when we all come together anything is possible," continued Jayne. "We hope you'll come together to support the USHJA Foundation, but regardless of where you give, Giving Tuesday is a perfect time to give back to causes that you love."

The USHJA Foundation is the charitable arm of the USHJA. The USHJA Foundation's vision is that the hunter/jumper community embraces, supports and protects the people and horses who give their hearts to the sport.
